Stahl introduced an updated Sensora haptic coatings portfolio on 31 August 2026 in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, for brands and packaging producers seeking tactile finishes across paper, board, labels and flexible packaging.
The range is designed to add sensations including soft, velvety, smooth, silky, rubbery and textured effects to packaging surfaces. According to Stahl, these finishes can help brands differentiate packs through touch as well as visual presentation. Sensora coatings are intended for paper and board, narrow-web and flexible-packaging applications. Identified uses include folding cartons, labels, flexible food packaging and packs for cosmetics, technology products and luxury goods. The portfolio therefore addresses both food and non-food markets.
The updated range includes water-based and energy-curable coating technologies capable of producing matte, soft-feel and other haptic finishes. Stahl said selected products provide food-contact-compliant options covering requirements including the US Food and Drug Administration, Swiss Ordinance, German Ink Ordinance, ISEGA and EuPIA compliance. The company did not specify which individual products carry each listed compliance status in its announcement.
“With Sensora, Stahl helps brands harness the power of touch in packaging,” said Paul Grzebielucha, Group Director Packaging Coatings at Stahl. “By combining tactile differentiation with proven coating performance, Sensora enables customers to create premium experiences that enhance consumer engagement and strengthen brand identity.” Stahl plans to present the portfolio at Loupe Americas 2026, where it will exhibit at booth 727. Visitors will be able to examine the coatings and their tactile effects directly. The announcement did not provide pricing, commercial availability by market or technical application details for converters. It also did not identify specific customer trials, printing processes, curing requirements, performance data or minimum order quantities for buyers.
